Shirley Christian, B.A.

Shirley is currently the Superintendent of the Sunday school program at Anderson United Methodist Church located in Jackson, MS. She has thirty-two years of classroom instruction experience in “Family and Consumer Sciences”. She taught for two years in the state of Mississippi, eight years in Michigan and twenty-two years in the state of New Jersey.  She was the lead teacher in Family and Consumer Sciences for William Allen III Middle School of Moorestown, New Jersey.  She led both curriculum and technology-based development all while promoting good nutrition in the classroom. She has done grant writing for Family and Consumer Sciences and was a mentor for new teachers. Shirley was the Managing Agent, for the television show “Woman to Woman” based in Jackson, MS featuring Juanita Sims Doty and the late former first lady of Mississippi Pat Fordice. She served as the Project Manager of the Mississippi Delta Health Project with the Sims Group of America, Incorporated. Shirley received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Alcorn State University and did additional studies in Family and Consumer Sciences & Technology. Shirley is the Co-Founder/Director of the Canton Community Character Institute (Triple C) in Canton, MS. She is a member of the NAACP, the New Jersey Retired Educators Association, Metro- Jackson Alcorn State University Alumni and a Life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Shirley is an officer of the International Community Ambassador Network and serves on the board of the Cure Sickle Cell Foundation. She is also a Community Advocate for the National Institute for Child Health.
